The POCO F4 Pro Is the Best Phone You Can't Buy
Xiaomi has been teasing the POCO F4 for quite some time now, and it's actually surprising that it's taken this long for leaks of the phone to surface.
Today, however, we have an exclusive look at the POCO F4 Pro in all its glory courtesy of WinFuture.
The leak shows off how the new phone compares in size to its sibling, the recently released POCO F1 (which we've reviewed here), and also provides us with some more clues about what to expect when Xiaomi announces the phone officially later this month.
What we know
- The POCO F4 Pro is powered by a Snapdragon 855 processor and has a 6.3-inch AMOLED display with a pixel density of 445 pixels per inch.
- It has 12GB of RAM, 256GB of storage, a 4,000 mAh battery with Quick Charge 3.0 support, and features three cameras on the back (48MP + 13MP + 5MP).
- The phone is running Android 9 Pie out of the box. - There's also no headphone jack or IP rating for water resistance, but it does have an IR blaster and stereo speakers.
- The design includes a curved glass back that's similar to the iPhone XS.
- And finally, there's no word on price yet so it'll likely be pretty pricey when it comes out later this year. - What we don't know: - When it will be released.
- How much it will cost. - What color variants are available.
- How well the camera works in low light conditions. - Whether or not it's worth upgrading from the Pocophone F1 if you're already happy with your current device. - Whether they've fixed any of the issues people had with the Pocophone F1 such as connectivity issues and charging problems.
- Where you can buy one? Sadly, you can't get your hands on one yet because it hasn't been officially announced. We expect more information to come soon though!
- Why should I care? We think the new Pocophone F4 Pro looks great! Especially considering how affordable its predecessor was. If Xiaomi continues this trend and lowers the price, then it could compete against other flagships like the Samsung Galaxy S10 and Google Pixel 3XL which would make them more accessible for people who want high end specs without spending top dollar.
Why it’s so good
POCO has been a champion of delivering high-end specs at an affordable price point, and it's no different with the F4 Pro. While not officially released yet, we do know that this phone will come with a Snapdragon 855 processor and 6GB of RAM.
One major difference between the POCO F3 and this device is that it comes with a punch-hole display design which should make for an immersive experience. What’s even better is that this device also has its own liquid cooling system to keep things running smoothly!
It’s unlikely you can get your hands on one just yet but hopefully in time there will be more news about release date and availability. As far as pricing goes, expect this phone to retail around $600 which would make it the most expensive POCO model yet.
For those who don't have patience for waiting, there are plenty of other smartphones on the market available now like the Samsung Galaxy S10e or Huawei Mate 20 Pro. The former provides a gorgeous edge-to-edge display while the latter has some of the best cameras on any smartphone right now.
There's always something out there worth checking out so don't worry too much if you miss out on the POCO F4 Pro!

Are there any risks?
POCO is a sub-brand of Xiaomi, which means that there is a risk that if they do not sell enough phones, Xiaomi will shut it down. The POCO company also has no experience in making phones, and they are starting with a flagship phone. This may be too much for them to handle at once.
It is an open question whether or not this phone will be successful, and we can only hope it does well. For those who want to buy this device, the wait continues! There are very few available units left on pre-order and you have to purchase them soon if you want one. If the launch date is pushed back again, these pre-orders will likely get cancelled as more customers come in.
In addition, this device is rumored to cost upwards of $1000 USD without subsidies (unconfirmed). We'll keep you updated on its launch date! POCO promises two major changes for the F4: better battery life and the elimination of water droplets seen with other devices such as the Samsung Galaxy S8 and iPhone 8.
POCO claims that this new technology allows the screen to operate smoothly while submerged underwater. In addition, there is a new app called Hydro Community that allows users to interact with each other about swimming techniques and locations of good beaches.
POCO also hopes to expand into overseas markets after doing so successfully in India last year. Stay tuned for updates about when the new phone will launch! *Last Updated October 2nd, 2018* *Latest News* *Launch Date Not Set Yet* As of now, the release date for this phone has not been set yet. Pre-orders are sold out and new orders will take months to fill.
New information is expected by December 15th, 2018 but until then all we can do is speculate. I'm sure many people are disappointed that they missed their chance at ordering early on; however, this news provides reassurance to consumers that POCO cares about their customer's safety and wants to make sure everything goes well before releasing their product.
Would you buy it?
This is an amazing phone! The best thing about it is that it is not yet released. I would buy this phone in a heartbeat if I had the money. It has an awesome camera, and its battery life lasts for two days. Plus, it's still new so you won't have to worry about people breaking or stealing your phone on the street.
I can't wait until they release this beauty! In the meantime, I will just have to settle with my old iPhone 6s plus with a cracked screen. I guess we'll never know what could have been.
At least Apple finally announced a fix for their broken iPhones, but too bad I don't own one. What do you think of the POCO F4? Would you want to buy it when it comes out? Let me know by commenting below!
